Only by such a Mediator, who makes full satisfaction for our sins and is able to deliver us. (Hebrews 9:15)

Q2. Can any mere creature perform this work?

Indeed not, for no mere creature can bear the burden of God’s wrath against sin and deliver us from it.

Q3. What kind of a Mediator, then, do we need?

One who is both true and righteous man, yet greater than man; that is, one who is also very God.

Q4. Who is this Mediator?

Our Lord Jesus Christ, who was given to us by God to be our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. (1 Corinthians 1:30)

Memory Work For October 15

Junior High Memory:

1. Will God allow this disobedience to go unpunished?

Indeed not, for he is displeased with both our original and actual sins and will punish them in time and in eternity. (Matt. 10:28)

2. Is not God unjust in requiring of us what we cannot perform?

No, for God made man capable of obeying him, but man wilfully sins against God.

God is indeed merciful, but he is also just. Therefore all sin against the most high majesty of God will be punished with extreme, that is everlasting, punishment in body and soul. (II Thess. 1:9,10)

By no means, but God created man good and after his own image, in true knowledge and righteousness and holiness.

From the fall and disobedience of our first parents, by which our nature became so corrupt that we are all conceived and born in sin. (Rom. 5:12)

3. What was that disobedience?

That they did eat of the fruit of the tree which God had forbidden them.

4. Are we, then, unable to do any good and prone to all evil?

Yes, indeed, unless we are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. (John 3:5; Eph. 2:1)
